Hands-On Learning Completes Two-Year Corporate Rebranding
December 1, 2014 – Denver-based Hands-On Learning, the world leader in science distance learning, announced today the completion of a two-year company rebrand. The rebranding reflects the many recent changes the company has undergone, as well as its vision for the future.
For more than 20 years, the company has operated as Hands-On Labs, providing lab experiment kits for online science courses to students around the world. Under the new corporate structure, Hands-On Learning (HOL) is the new corporate entity comprised of two divisions: Hands-On Labs and HOL Consulting Services.
The Hands-On Labs division continues to create cutting-edge lab kits in 11 different disciplines. Using the latest digital cloud-based platforms, HOL’s lab kits are self-contained learning portals that allow students to perform hands-on science experiments that mirror the classroom laboratory. A major component of the company’s growth has been the expansion of their line of kits, now with three distinct offerings to meet the individual needs of instructors and their class goals. LabBridge features superior student engagement and technology, LabPaq is designed for customizing a unique course, and the newly introduced STEMpaq satisfies lab requirements at an economical price. “Our goal is to give instructors the tools they need to facilitate student learning,” said Kevin Melendy, CEO, “We help them create online classes, use the most effective technology, and better understand the behavioral patterns of their students. And we’re proud to have the first and only science lab content certified by Quality Matters.” Quality Matters (QM) is a faculty-centered, peer review process that is designed to certify the quality of online courses.
HOL’s newest division, HOL Consulting Services, aligns private industry and higher education to prepare students for jobs in the STEM disciplines. Managing Partner and Chief Operating Officer John Miller explains, “We’re building unique relationships between industry and education to identify gaps in STEM curricula and create a pipeline of future qualified employees. Our programs help companies reduce their acquisition costs, improve performance, and maximize employee retention.”
The new rebrand is being highlighted by the unveiling of a new corporate website. Visitors to www.holscience.com will see a new look with a responsive and easy-to-navigate design. As thought leaders in distance learning, HOL has created a website that engages instructors and students, enhances service to clients, and generates discussion about the latest trends in online learning and workforce development.
To coincide with its rebranding and strengthened customer focus, HOL will offer a series of webinars in the coming months. The webinars will focus on the latest education technology, best practices, innovative solutions, and more. To get information on upcoming webinars, product news, and current discussion topics, sign up for the new HOL newsletter at www.holscience.com/newsletter.
As part of the official rebrand launch, HOL is also kicking off an online contest for instructors through January 15. By visiting the new website and answering two questions, participants will be entered in a drawing to win an iPad. “We want to develop a brand identity that represents what Hands-On Learning is about, which is our clients,” said Melendy. “We want to create a brand presence online and offline, and we value their feedback.” The online contest launches today at www.holscience.com/contest.
